Job Overview:
The Clinical Exercise Specialist will be engaged in the Live Well Fitness Center, providing support to both Cardiac Rehabilitation patients and community fitness members.
This role involves the continuous execution of the cardiac rehabilitation program, ensuring proper utilization of exercise equipment and routines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct participant interviews to gather vital signs, oxygen saturation levels, and medical history to assess eligibility for the cardiac health program and/or fitness center.
- Collaborate with cardiac health participants to develop personalized exercise and rehabilitation plans.
- Focus on cardiac rehabilitation by overseeing and implementing physical exercise, including taking manual blood pressures and analyzing rhythm strips.
- Supervise exercise sessions, monitoring participants for any adverse reactions to physical activity.
- Provide education on risk factors and lifestyle modifications to patients.
- Maintain confidential participant records in compliance with accepted standards, including DNV, Medicare, and HIPAA.
- Review and communicate participant progress and concerns to the hospitalist and/or referring physicians.
- Identify emergencies or health issues that may require additional medical intervention and collaborate with a team of healthcare providers for optimal care.
- Explain the fitness center program to participants, including costs, hours, and conduct.
- Develop initial and follow-up exercise programs for participants based on physician recommendations, specifying the necessary equipment.
- Facilitate individual and group classes focusing on aerobic, strength, flexibility, and specific conditions such as Parkinson's Disease.
- Demonstrate expertise in correct exercise techniques and forms for effective treatment.
- Orient participants to fitness center policies and equipment usage.
- Assist in behavior modification classes covering topics like stress management and weight control.
- Adhere to organizational policies and procedures consistently.
- Master's degree in Exercise Physiology is required.
- Strong communication skills are essential.
- Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and ACLS (American Heart Association) is mandatory.
- Ability to analyze and interpret cardiac rhythm strips and monitoring data is necessary.
- Proficiency in taking manual vital signs is required.
- CCRP certification is preferred and must be obtained within one year of hire.
River's Edge Hospital is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Clinical Exercise Specialist, with opportunities in both the Live Well Fitness Center and Cardiac Rehabilitation.
This position offers flexible daytime hours with no weekend or holiday shifts.
