Job Summary:

The Cart Attendant is an entry-level position responsible for delivering exceptional customer service in the store, parking lots, and entrance/exits of the stores. This individual is solely accountable for maintaining the overall aesthetic appearance of the parking lot. They must ensure that all customer carts are retrieved and stored properly in the cart corral or designated cart areas. Occasionally, they will assist customers with the delivery and loading of their groceries into their vehicles. Based on business needs, a cart attendant may be called upon to assist with store operation activities such as stocking shelves, assisting with customers, and cleaning. As a team member of Pete's Fresh Market, it is essential that Pete's Four Pillars of Value, Aesthetic, Quality, and Customer Service are always exemplified.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Retrieve and maintain all carts on company property.
  • Ensure the return of all carts to their designated storage areas.
  • Recognize and identify carts that have fallen out of the store boundaries and retrieve them, if necessary.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and offer assistance when needed.
  • Maintain a clean parking lot, sidewalk, entrance, and exit of the store, ensuring the area is clear for customers and employees.
  • Assist customers with carrying heavy objects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. with 0-3 years of experience in a grocery store or similar retail environment.
  • Valid and up-to-date Food Handler's Certificate.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, bend, climb, balance, stoop to grasp objects, kneel, crouch, crawl, frequently push/pull up to 100 lbs., frequently lift and/or move loads up to 50 lbs., and occasionally lift 75 lbs.
  • Ability to enter coolers and freezers, withstanding frequent temperature changes for extended periods.
  • Occasional high stress when dealing with systems, customers, and staff.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule with various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as determined by the store/business needs.
  • Reliable source of transportation.
