Job Title: Occupational Therapist

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our team at Elderwood at Waverly. As an Occupational Therapist, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our residents by providing comprehensive and quality therapy services.

Job Summary:

The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for administering skilled occupational therapy treatments, maintaining written evaluations, progress notes, and discharge summaries, and conferring with other healthcare staff regarding special needs of individuals. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in occupational therapy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well with residents, families, and other staff members.

Responsibilities:
  • Initiates skilled occupational therapy treatments in accordance with physician's orders
  • Maintains written evaluations, progress notes, MDS records, and discharge summaries
  • Confers with other healthcare staff regarding special needs of individuals
  • Provides input for Care Planning meetings and attends during absences of the Director of Occupational Therapy
  • Maintains statistical records of individuals' treatments
  • Assists with in-service training programs upon request
  • Records and updates individual's care plan
  • Submits requisition for supplies needed in the treatment of individuals to Director of Occupational Therapy
  • Assumes all duties of the Director of Occupational Therapy, if applicable, during absences including supervision of COTA's and Occupational Therapy Aides
Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an approved school of occupational therapy
  • State license to practice occupational therapy
  • Two years' experience in occupational therapy preferred
  • Interest in occupational therapy treatment programs for the geriatric and subacute populations utilizing a team approach
  • Ability to direct others necessary
  • Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing required
  • Current, valid CPR/BLS credential
  • Sense of responsibility and ability to work well with residents, families, and other staff members required
