Job Overview:

We are seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) who will provide essential emergency medical assistance in the transportation and care of patients experiencing medical emergencies.

Under the guidance of the Director and direct supervision of the Shift Manager, the EMT will deliver critical care to patients during assigned shifts, with flexible scheduling options available.

Applicants must have completed a certification program that qualifies them to take the EMT certification examination for the State of Tennessee. A valid Class D Tennessee Driver's License and a current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or an equivalent organization are also required.

Employees may be called back for additional shifts and are subject to overtime as needed by the healthcare facility. Random drug screening is also a requirement for employment.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Assess the severity of medical conditions by conducting thorough patient evaluations, interpreting vital signs, and communicating findings to authorized medical personnel.

2. Provide basic trauma and cardiac life support interventions to patients both at the scene and during transport to medical facilities.

3. Maintain clinical competencies as dictated by established protocols and standards.

4. Establish communication with the receiving hospital's Emergency Department to relay pertinent patient information.

5. Assist in the safe extraction of patients from hazardous situations.

6. Accurately document patient information and care provided in the appropriate logs and forms.

7. Participate in the daily operations of the department, adhering to policies and procedures.

8. Report any unusual occurrences or patient complaints to the Shift Manager.

9. Support patient care activities in the Emergency Room as required for professional development.

10. Attend mandatory departmental training sessions and contribute to the education of EMS students as necessary.

11. Foster a positive work environment and collaborate effectively with team members to enhance departmental operations.


QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:
Completion of a certification program that qualifies candidates for the EMT certification exam in Tennessee.

CERTIFICATIONS:
Current State Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician.
Valid Class D Tennessee Driver's License.
Current Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association or equivalent.

EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge of local healthcare facilities, EMS protocols, and communication procedures, gained through a comprehensive orientation program.

Experience in the operation and maintenance of emergency medical equipment and vehicles is also beneficial.
