Job Summary

Sonoco, a leading global packaging solutions company, is seeking an experienced Multicraft Maintenance Technician to join our Power Department team in Chattanooga, TN. As a key member of our maintenance team, you will be responsible for providing safe and timely preventative maintenance, installation, service, repair, troubleshooting, and resolution of multiple operating machines within a manufacturing industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Performing routine maintenance tasks to ensure optimal equipment performance and minimize downtime
  • Identifying and resolving safety risks and hazards in the workplace
  • Communicating effectively with operations personnel to address equipment issues and improve overall productivity
  • Installing, troubleshooting, testing, repairing, and maintaining equipment and machinery used in the power department
  • Rebuilding and repairing various parts and equipment
  • Collaborating with the E&I Superintendent to develop and implement maintenance plans and schedules
Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Journeyman Electrician in a heavy industry setting
  • Experience with 480 VAC, 3-phase, and lower voltage systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair semi-automated production equipment
  • Experience with troubleshooting and preventive maintenance of large DC and AC motors
  • Proficiency in using standard electrical test equipment, including voltmeters, amp probes, and meggers
  • Familiarity with and ability to safely apply the National Electrical Code and other local safety codes, policies, and procedures
  • Ability to read and interpret facility blueprints and equipment technical manuals
  • Computer literacy and ability to effectively use various computer applications
  • Ability to perform electrical construction projects and repair
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively work within a team environment
