Position Overview
The City of Blue Ash is looking for qualified individuals to join our team as a Full-Time Parks and Grounds Maintenance Team Leader. This role is essential in preserving the beauty of our public parks and landscapes.

Key Responsibilities
- Supervise, mentor, and assess a team of Parks staff while actively participating in fieldwork to maintain the diverse landscapes of Blue Ash.
- Expertly manage the care of seasonal floral displays, including hanging baskets and greenhouse-cultivated plants.
- Oversee the maintenance of shrubs, vines, ground covers, and turf, making informed decisions regarding health assessments and treatment timing.
- Diagnose plant nutrition and pest control requirements, ensuring proper application of fertilizers and herbicides while maintaining accurate records in compliance with regulations.
- Lead landscape revitalization projects, including removal, design, and installation tasks.
- Utilize hand and power tools, as well as heavy machinery, to complete various landscaping projects.
- Assist with snow removal efforts using appropriate equipment for walkways and parking areas.
- Contribute to the planning and evaluation of a comprehensive park management program.
- Train and assess staff on effective landscape maintenance techniques.
- Ensure staff safety protocols are adhered to, providing necessary training on equipment and procedures.
- Encourage staff development through training sessions, evaluations, and mentoring opportunities.
- Organize and assign daily and weekly work schedules.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended periods.
- Capability to stand and/or walk for up to 6+ hours during a shift.
- Successful completion of a drug screening and background check is required.
- Availability to work weekends, holidays, and during special events.
- Possession of a valid Driver License is mandatory.
- A Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Horticulture, Landscape Construction, or a related field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with automatic irrigation systems and the ability to interpret landscape and irrigation plans is advantageous.
- Ohio Commercial Applicator License or the ability to obtain one within the first six months is required.
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience is preferred.
- Experience in greenhouse management and landscape design is a plus.
