Lorain County Community College is seeking a qualified adjunct faculty member to teach classes related to high-volume printed circuit board (PCB) manufacturing within the MEMS bachelor's degree program.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver on-campus lecture and hands-on laboratories related to semiconductor manufacturing, ensuring students gain practical experience in the field.
- Operate and program automated PCB manufacturing equipment, including stencil printing, surface mount technology (SMT) pick & place, and reflow, to provide students with hands-on experience.
- Operate and program automated PCB inspection equipment, including solder paste inspection (SPI), automated optical inspection (AOI), and x-ray inspection, to teach students about quality control.
- Rework Ball Grid Array (BGA) PCB using semi-automated rework equipment and x-ray inspection, to demonstrate advanced manufacturing techniques.
- Design a PCB using Altium Design software, including a PCB containing a microcontroller that is capable of being programmed within a class, to teach students about PCB design.
- Work with the coordinator to optimize delivery of lab and lecture content, ensuring a seamless learning experience for students.
- Perform setup, operation, teardown, shutdown, and cleanup of all equipment, materials, and tooling used in MEMS bachelor's high-volume PCB labs and design labs, to maintain a safe and efficient learning environment.
- Grade quizzes, homework, and exams using Canvas, to assess student understanding and progress.
- Work with LCCC administration and staff for extracurricular events, such as tours or live demonstrations, to provide students with real-world experience.
- Attained or in pursuit of a Bachelor's of Engineering or Applied Science in an appropriate field related to semiconductors (e.g. Electrical, Mechanical, Technology, Industrial, etc.), to possess a strong foundation in the subject matter.
- At least 3 years of work experience in a field related to microelectronic manufacturing, to bring practical experience to the classroom.
- Hands-on experience in high-volume automated PCB manufacturing, high-volume automated PCB inspection equipment, and Altium Design software, to provide students with hands-on experience.
- Able to work in a flexible schedule from 9 AM - 9 PM on campus, to accommodate the needs of students and the college.
- Able to use a computer with Microsoft Windows, Office, and Teams, to effectively communicate with students and staff.
- Able to be trained on and use high-volume PCB manufacturing equipment, to stay up-to-date with industry standards.
- Excellent communication and organization skills with the ability to learn quickly, to effectively manage the classroom and communicate with students.
- Comfortable and nimble at multitasking in a dynamic educational environment, to adapt to changing circumstances.
- Attained Master's degree or beyond in a related field, to possess advanced knowledge in the subject matter.
- 5+ years experience working in a manufacturing environment and ESD preventative environment, to bring extensive experience to the classroom.
- 5+ years experience teaching in a related field, to possess a strong understanding of pedagogy.
- Experience working in a Lean manufacturing environment and participating in PFMEA, to bring a strong understanding of industry standards.
- Attained IPC J-STD-001 solder certificate and IPC A-610 certificate, to demonstrate expertise in PCB manufacturing.
