Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our team at Wheeling Hospital. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of surgical procedures and providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment and ensuring the proper handling of instruments and equipment.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of supplies and equipment, and restock as needed.
  • Collaborate with the circulating RN to ensure accurate sponge, instrument, and needle counts.
  • Assist with patient positioning and transportation, and prepare supplies and equipment for surgical procedures.
  • Perform equipment checks and assist with the general cleaning duties of the department.
  • Assist with clerical work, including record keeping and data collection.
Requirements
  • Current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse, completion of a Surgical Technology program, or completion of a Registered Nurse program.
  • Two years of previous scrub experience or completion of a summer surgical tech extern program.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and push/pull heavy loaded carts up to 200 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and maintain a high level of attention to detail.
