Position Overview:
The Operating Room Nurse Coordinator plays a pivotal role in overseeing the management and operational effectiveness of the Operating Room (OR). This position is essential for ensuring optimal staffing and resource allocation within the surgical environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with Anesthesia and other medical professionals to facilitate the daily surgical schedule.
  • Work closely with the Perioperative Services Director, Nurse Coordinators, surgeons, and support staff to maximize OR utilization.
  • Ensure that staff members receive appropriate breaks and that room turnover times meet established benchmarks.
  • Provide recommendations to Nurse Coordinator II's regarding patient care quality and nursing practices.
  • Act as a professional leader and resource for departmental staff and fellow leaders.
  • Maintain compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies, including the Joint Commission, IDPH, and CMS.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution.
  • Current Registered Professional Nurse (RN) license in the State of Illinois.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in Operating Room (OR) nursing.
  • At least one year of supervisory experience in nursing.

Work Schedule:
Typical hours are from 6:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday, with availability for weekends and nights on a rotating basis. The role includes on-call responsibilities shared with other coordinators.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Nursing or Business from an accredited institution.
  • Extensive knowledge of hospital policies and procedures.
  • Proven ability to train others through effective presentation and demonstration of tasks.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and precision in all aspects of work.
