Job Summary:

As a Certified Surgical Technician at CHRISTUS Health, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our Operating Room suite. Your expertise will be essential in preparing patients for surgery, maintaining aseptic techniques, and providing comfort and support to our patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing patients for surgery, including preparing patient skin for surgery and maintaining aseptic techniques.
  • Transport patients to and from the Operating Room suite and position patients according to the type of surgery.
  • Identify and care for biological specimens and prepare the Operating Room by setting up tables, instruments, and supplies according to the type of case.
  • Work effectively as a member of the OR team, cooperating in team planning and execution, and maintaining a safe environment by implementing technical and aseptic practices.
  • Demonstrate clinical expertise in the use and care of all surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment, and adhere to Universal Barrier Precautions for both patient and own safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including maintaining preference cards and ensuring that they are kept up to date and as complete as possible.

Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Completion of the Surgical Technology program or an accredited LVN/LPN program required. 2 or more years of experience preferred. BLS required. Certification of Surgical Technologist from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting within 180 days of graduation or LVN/LPN License required.
