Job Description / Essential Elements:EUREKA UNION SCHOOL DISTRICTCLASSIFIED JOB DESCRIPTIONBUS DRIVERResponsibilities:
  1. Operate a school bus over designated routes to transport school children, adhering to time schedules and safety protocols.
  2. Escort children across streets, following Vehicle Code and 13 CCR regulations, and stopping traffic as necessary.
  3. Maintain good order among students on the bus, upholding District policies regarding child discipline.
  4. Conduct pre-trip vehicle inspections, including tires, emergency exits, lights, turn signals, gauges, and brakes.
  5. Read, understand, and follow oral and written directions.
Duties/Responsibilities:
  1. Transport children and teachers on field trips to various locations, adhering to scheduled departure and arrival times.
  2. Perform routine bus maintenance, including washing the bus, cleaning windows, sweeping the interior, fueling the bus, and checking the engine oil level.
Qualifications:
  1. Knowledge of safe driving practices and California Motor Vehicle Code and California Code of Regulations Title 13 applicable to school bus operations.
  2. Ability to drive a school bus and other automotive equipment safely and efficiently.
  3. Ability to supervise pupils being transported.
  4. California Class II driver's license and a bus driver's certificate issued by the California Department of Motor Vehicles.
  5. Ability to pass a physical examination every two years.
  6. Good driving record.
  7. At least 21 years of age.
Physical Requirements:
  1. Position requires moderate physical exertion associated with lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, or climbing.
  2. Position requires physical capability for sustained physical work, strength, and endurance associated with moderate physical effort.
  3. Lifting 50 lbs. maximum or carrying any object weighing up to 25 lbs.
  4. Position requires moderate physical effort while performing continuous moderate lifting.
Requirements / Qualifications:
  1. California A or B License with passenger and school bus endorsement.
  2. Current DL-51 medical certificate.
  3. California Special Driver Certificate.
  4. Resume.
