Job Summary:

Ascension Via Christi is seeking a highly skilled Medical Physicist to join our team. As a Medical Physicist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality of care in the use of radiation-producing sources and imaging equipment, while protecting patients and staff from radiation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform required calibrations on equipment to ensure accuracy and safety.
  • Recommend and justify new equipment and products for the department, aligning with Ascension's commitment to excellence.
  • Conduct equipment performance reviews as needed and implement quality control procedures for imaging devices, upholding Ascension's standards for patient care.
  • Educate staff in radiation safety practices, promoting a culture of safety and compliance.
  • Support all physics aspects of patient treatment, including consultation with radiation oncologists, calculation of radiation doses, design and fabrication of treatment aids, and assurance of the accuracy of all treatment parameters.

Requirements:

  • Medical Physicist credentialed from the American Board of Radiology obtained within 12 months of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • Master or Doctorate in Physics, Chemistry, Medical Physics, Health Physics, or Radiological Sciences, or be enrolled in and in good standing with a CAMPEP-accredited program, or be partaking in an American Board of Radiology (ABR)-approved Structured Mentorship program.
