Overview of Responsibilities:

The Safety and Security Officer is tasked with ensuring daily compliance with safety regulations, Job Corps program standards, corporate policies, and applicable federal, state, and local laws. This role is essential in fostering a secure environment for the center's staff, students, and visitors. The Transportation Specialist aspect of the role involves similar compliance responsibilities, ensuring safety and security during transportation activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Under the guidance of the Security/Safety Manager and Senior Security Officer, enforces security policies, protocols, and procedures.
  • Safeguards the well-being of students, staff, and facilities.
  • Conducts thorough inspections and security assessments of the premises.
  • Reports emergencies and assists in managing adverse situations.
  • Responds to and investigates security breaches.
  • Manages disturbances and aids staff in de-escalating tense situations.
  • Upholds the rights of all individuals on the premises.
  • Accurately completes required security logs, documentation, and records in a timely manner.
  • Oversees visitor check-in and check-out processes, including safety inspections of personal items.
  • Adheres to established protocols for the entry and exit of staff, students, and visitors.
  • Conducts investigations and documents findings promptly and accurately.
  • Operates center vehicles as needed.
  • Transports students as assigned to various locations.
  • Exhibits a helpful, responsible, and caring demeanor.
  • Facilitates the pickup and delivery of materials as directed, reporting vehicle maintenance needs to the supervisor.
  • Ensures compliance with all safety protocols by staff, students, and visitors.
  • Performs routine inspections on center vehicles.
  • Maintains accurate transportation records.
  • Reports any vehicle incidents to the supervisor immediately upon return.
  • Ensures that all safety standards and guidelines are strictly followed.
  • Maintains cleanliness and proper upkeep of vehicles.
  • Ensures vehicles meet all required maintenance standards.
  • Maintains timely and accurate records of vehicle usage and transportation activities.
  • Assists with additional departmental tasks during non-driving periods.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
Certifications/Licenses:
  • Valid state driver's license with necessary endorsements and a clean driving record.
