Job Summary

The Facilities Specialist is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and operation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems within the facility. This role ensures optimal performance and energy efficiency while adhering to safety regulations and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance & Repair
    • Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot HVAC issues, making necessary repairs and adjustments to minimize downtime.
    • Replace filters, belts, and other components as needed to maintain system efficiency and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Installation & Upgrades
    • Assist in the installation and commissioning of new HVAC equipment and systems to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.
    • Recommend upgrades or replacements for outdated or inefficient systems to improve overall facility operations.
  • Monitoring & Compliance
    • Monitor system performance and make adjustments to optimize energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact.
    • Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations related to HVAC systems to minimize risk and liability.
  • Documentation & Reporting
    • Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and system performance to inform future maintenance and improvement efforts.
    • Prepare reports for management on HVAC system status and any necessary actions to ensure transparency and accountability.
  • Collaboration
    • Work closely with other facilities staff and contractors to support overall building operations and ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
    • Provide technical support and training to maintenance personnel as needed to ensure a high level of expertise and efficiency.
  • Customer Service
    • Respond to HVAC-related service requests from building occupants promptly and professionally to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction.
    • Educate staff on proper use and maintenance of HVAC systems to promote a culture of safety and efficiency.
Qualifications
  • Education
    • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in HVAC preferred to ensure a strong foundation in HVAC principles and practices.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in HVAC maintenance and repair to demonstrate a high level of expertise and efficiency.
    • Familiarity with building automation systems is a plus to ensure seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Certifications
    • EPA certification for refrigerants to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and minimize risk.
    • Relevant HVAC certifications (e.g., NATE, HVAC Excellence) are preferred to demonstrate a high level of expertise and commitment to industry standards.
  • Skills
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities to quickly identify and resolve HVAC issues.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with staff and contractors.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to ensure seamless operations and a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Physical Requirements
    • Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces to ensure safe and efficient maintenance and repair.
    • Willingness to work in varying temperatures and conditions to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.
Working Conditions
  • This position may require occasional evening or weekend work based on facility needs to ensure seamless operations and a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • The role involves working both indoors and outdoors, sometimes in adverse weather conditions, to ensure optimal performance and energy efficiency.

This role routinely uses standard office equipment, including a laptop computer and cell phone. The employee is generally required to spend long periods of time standing and sitting, typing, and working at a computer. May require the ability to occasionally lift and transport items. The estimated base salary range for the Facilities Specialist is $55,700-$58,700. The salary range information provided is in accordance with applicable state and local laws regarding salary transparency that are currently in effect and may be implemented in the future. The range represents a good faith estimate of the range that GLOVIS EA reasonably expects to pay for this job at the time of the job posting. The actual salary paid to an individual will vary based on multiple factors, including but not limited to specific skills or certifications, years of experience, market changes, and required travel.
