We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at UnityPoint Health. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting our healthcare team.
Responsibilities- Assist in the delivery of primary health care services and patient care management.
- Administer medications by all routes and apply the Nursing Process (Assessment, Diagnosis, Planning, Intervention, and Evaluation) within licensure guidelines.
- Act as a liaison with patients, family, and providers, consistently demonstrating smooth and efficient telephone communication when covering provider call and scheduling patient appointments.
- Obtain complete history regarding health problems according to protocols and document accurate information regarding health concerns and/or condition from patient or family member.
- Telephone Triage by providing and documenting advice for home care of illness/condition; conducting follow-up phone calls regarding patient's health and progress as necessary.
- Ability to assess urgency of condition for immediate attention regarding illness-related calls and assign priority.
- Provide patient education regarding health maintenance and medical illnesses following accepted Teach-back method per protocols and guidelines.
- Provide appropriate and timely documentation in the patient's electronic health record using standardized workflows and processes.
- Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants.
- Current CME certification for Certified Medical Assistant and AAMA or NCCT certification.
- Mandatory Reporter certification.
- Meets educational/competency requirements per policy.
- Previous clinical experience in a medical office preferred.
- Computer data entry experience.
- Mandatory Reporter certification.
- CPR certification.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to work as a team member.
- Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Able to write, read, comprehend, and speak fluent English.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Previous clinical experience in a medical office preferred.
