Position Overview
The Buyer is responsible for executing procurement strategies to secure the best products and services for the organization. This role involves conducting thorough market analysis to identify and engage with potential suppliers that meet the company's operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive market research to discover new suppliers and evaluate existing vendor performance.
- Establish and nurture relationships with suppliers to facilitate effective negotiations and ensure favorable purchasing terms.
- Manage the lifecycle of Purchase Orders, including documentation, processing, and filing.
- Assess material shortages on a weekly basis and strategize procurement actions accordingly.
- Request and evaluate samples and specifications for both new and existing components.
- Input new part numbers and standard costs into the ERP system, ensuring accurate data management.
- Source competitive pricing and delivery options for materials through various channels.
- Expedite orders and adjust schedules as necessary to meet changing demands.
- Collaborate with the receiving department to resolve any discrepancies related to incoming shipments.
- Work alongside the Accounting team to address issues related to receipts, returns, and non-conformances.
- Communicate with vendors regarding non-conformance issues and ensure corrective actions are documented.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Sales, Quality, and Production teams to provide necessary support and documentation.
- Manage inventory procurement for various departments, ensuring timely availability of materials.
- Participate in production meetings to stay informed about operational needs.
- Generate reports on open orders to monitor vendor performance and material availability.
- Identify and qualify new vendors to enhance the supply chain.
- Engage with vendor representatives to stay updated on product offerings and improvements.
- Negotiate with suppliers to uphold ethical standards while securing the best interests of the organization.
- Propose enhancements and efficiencies based on industry best practices.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
