We are seeking a skilled Radiographer-MRI to join our team at Northwestern Memorial Healthcare. As a key member of our imaging department, you will be responsible for performing MRI procedures with precision and care, ensuring the highest quality images for our patients.
Key Responsibilities- Perform MRI procedures according to established protocols, utilizing your expertise to generate high-quality images.
- Evaluate patient requests and assess their needs to determine the most appropriate procedure protocol and method of application.
- Employ imaging systems, accessory devices, and patient positioning techniques to produce optimal results.
- Care for patients throughout the procedure, adhering to department and hospital standards of patient care, age-specific sensitivities, and patient-centered guidelines.
- Participate in lifting and transporting patients to and from imaging devices, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Evaluate resultant images in comparison with industry standards, taking corrective action as needed.
- Refer to relevant reference materials for clarification when necessary.
- Provide patient education in the form of written materials and/or verbal explanations prior to, during, and subsequent to the procedure, reducing anxiety and enhancing patient comfort.
- Perform imaging procedures in accordance with safe practice guidelines for MRI.
- Apply independent judgment to perform preliminary interpretation, customizing the procedure accordingly.
- Notify physicians as required of changes in patient condition or unique imaging characteristics.
- Maintain flexibility to accommodate daily schedules and high levels of productivity.
- Collaborate with Resource Coordinators and Technical Coordinators to learn and become proficient in new procedures and software.
- Document imaging procedures manually and/or electronically to ensure correct charging, patient, and film file tracking.
- Send acquired images to the PACS system correctly, using the appropriate accession numbers for future retrieval by medical staff.
- Monitor stock of supplies in imaging rooms to ensure regular availability by timely reordering, rotation of dated items, and maintenance of a clean and orderly environment.
- Report incidents of equipment failure, irregularities in equipment performance, and equipment in disrepair to supervisory and technical coordinators as soon as possible.
- Distribute Radiology outpatient surveys to patients for self-evaluation purposes and to enhance the Best Patient Experience.
- Provide imaging services of optimum quality with optimum productivity and customer service.
- Collect data to support the measurement and tracking component of quality management.
- Participate in formal and informal process improvement and problem-solving to enhance the quality of service to customers.
- Proactively identify quality issues to be addressed and bring them to the attention of the Manager, Resource Coordinator, and Quality Committee as appropriate.
- Ensure the continuity of care through effective interactions with other departments, i.e., other off-site facilities, emergency department, registration, Feinberg-General Radiology, radiology reading rooms.
- Function as a role model for newly hired radiographers as experience in the position increases.
- Participate in department in-service programs.
- Over time, take a more active role in the development and delivery of the in-service program.
- Maintain competencies and comply with continuing education requirements of credentialing agencies.
