Busser Job Description

A busser at The Common Man is a vital member of our team, ensuring that every guest has an exceptional dining experience. Their day is filled with cleaning tables, booths, and chairs, quickly removing dirty dishes, and resetting tables to perfection.

As a busser, you will work closely with our wait staff and bartenders to set tables, clear tables, and maintain a well-stocked dining room. You may also be responsible for serving food and beverages to patrons at tables.

To be successful in this role, you must be professional, friendly, and committed to providing the highest standards of quality customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare for guests by cleaning and setting tables
  • Set up seasonal decorations, candles, or tablecloths
  • Greet patrons and escort them to tables if needed
  • Assist guests with menus, keeping them clean and presentable
  • Serve water and refill beverage glasses as needed
  • Place and replace silverware as needed
  • Stock wait staff serving stations with essentials
  • Remove dirty dishes and utensils
  • Deliver used dishes to the kitchen for cleaning
  • Assist dishwashers with scraping, stacking, or loading dishes
  • Vacuum, sweep, or mop the dining room
  • Remove trash and recycling, replacing trash bags
  • Clean up guest spills as needed
  • Direct guests to restrooms or exits as needed
  • Clear tables for the next guests
  • Follow and maintain all sanitation and safety procedures
  • Perform closing activities, such as cleaning chairs and tables

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • Able to move quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Friendly and polite to all patrons
  • Works well as part of a team and on individual tasks
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Works efficiently under pressure
  • Willing to work nights and weekends
  • Physically able to perform duties, including lifting and bending
  • Able to speak English
  • Eager to learn and grow with our restaurant
