Park Interpreter

We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team as Interpretive Guides and Maintainers at Talcott Mountain State Park. As a member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, contributing to the conservation and preservation of our natural resources.

As an Interpretive Guide, you will be responsible for leading educational programs and activities for visitors, promoting environmental awareness and appreciation. As a Maintainer, you will assist with the maintenance and operation of park facilities, including litter pickup, cleaning, and grounds maintenance.

• Lead educational programs and activities for visitors, including lectures, classes, tours, and special events.
• Assist with program development and implementation.
• Perform maintenance and operation tasks, including litter pickup, cleaning, and grounds maintenance.
• Work collaboratively with other team members to achieve park goals and objectives.

• Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
• Experience or education in the natural sciences (for Interpretive Guides).
• Experience in custodial work, landscaping, or a related skilled trade (for Maintainers).

• Experience in environmental education or conservation.
• Knowledge of park operations and maintenance.

Incumbents in this class must possess and maintain adequate physical strength and stamina to perform the duties of the class. Incumbents performing lifeguard services must be able to demonstrate American Red Cross (ARC) waterfront lifeguarding swimming skills.
