Job Summary and Responsibilities
The Surgical Services Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering direct patient care in accordance with the Registered Nurse Practice Act. This role involves:
- Utilizing effective communication techniques in daily interactions.
- Maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
- Identifying and addressing nursing challenges based on individual patient needs.
- Planning and implementing personalized patient care using an interdisciplinary approach.
- Participating in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient care.
As a charge nurse, you will oversee daily operations to ensure high-quality patient care. Responsibilities include:
- Making staff assignments based on patient acuity and staff qualifications.
- Serving as a clinical resource and role model for nursing staff.
- Responding promptly to inquiries from physicians, staff, or patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assessing, planning, and evaluating patient care needs while executing physician orders.
- Administering medications, changing dressings, and monitoring vital signs.
- Documenting and communicating patient conditions effectively using computerized systems.
- Educating patients and families as part of a multidisciplinary care team.
Qualifications:
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
- Registered Nurse with experience as an OR Circulator is required.
