Culinary Specialist - Patient Nutrition

This role requires a strong commitment to the culinary arts, particularly in a healthcare environment, where the quality of food is paramount for our patients' well-being. Adherence to sanitation and food safety regulations is essential, especially when serving individuals with compromised immune systems. You will need to effectively manage your time and coordinate multiple recipes simultaneously, even during peak service hours. A keen sense of food quality, including taste, appearance, and aroma, is crucial.

Work Schedule: Early morning shifts with rotating weekends.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure Safety Standards:
    Maintain compliance with all safety and sanitation regulations, including regular handwashing and proper use of personal protective equipment. Keep work areas clean and organized, monitor food temperatures, and ensure proper food storage practices.
  • Deliver Quality Service:
    Adhere to the work schedule, prepare workstations efficiently, and follow instructions with precision. Complete necessary checklists and operate kitchen equipment according to guidelines.
  • Foster a Positive Work Environment:
    Dress according to uniform standards, collaborate with colleagues, and communicate respectfully to support departmental goals.
  • Prepare High-Quality Meals:
    Skillfully handle and prepare ingredients, employing various cooking techniques to produce menu items that meet our high standards.

General Requirements:
  • Willingness to perform additional tasks as needed.
  • Adherence to all Wellstar Health Systems policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Certification: ServSafe Food Handler certification required within the first 60 days of employment.

Experience: A minimum of one year in a professional cooking environment is highly preferred.

Skills: Proficiency in verbal and written English, basic math skills, and the ability to follow safety regulations in a healthcare foodservice setting.
