Category Manager

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Category Manager to join our team at Three Bears Alaska Inc. As a Category Manager, you will be responsible for implementing and upholding merchandising standards across the General Merchandise and Health and Beauty departments in our stores.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and assist with seasonal and promotional merchandising in the General Merchandise and Health and Beauty departments.
- Work in coordination with the Merchandising Director to propose and implement resets, new item placement, promotional displays, and pricing strategies to maximize turns and profit margins.
- Develop, implement, and monitor merchandising standards for on-shelf and display products.
- Merchandise and direct the merchandising of new products in accordance with company standards.
- Coordinate endcap plans in cooperation with the Merchandising Director to maximize ROI, adhere to supplier agreements, and minimize post-promotional inventory.
- Monitor customer shopping patterns and market conditions to create merchandising plans and changes to product selections and space allocation.
- Coordinate and execute aisle resets in response to changing market conditions.
- Ensure the timely execution of merchandising plans by store personnel.
- Monitor the flow of merchandise in back rooms, storage areas, and the shelf to ensure all necessary product is on the floor available for sale.
- Monitor appropriate signage and pricing execution.
- Develop a plan and monitor front-end cash register merchandising to maximize ROI on these high-impulse, high-traffic areas.
- Travel to stores to evaluate and improve overall execution of merchandising plans, shelf conditions, and adherence to merchandising standards.
- Follow safety and security procedures and ensure procedures are followed by team members.
- Operate manual pallet jack, powered pallet jack, wheeled carts, trash compactor, cardboard baler, product marking gun, shrink wrap machine, wrench, screwdriver, pliers, and box knife. May occasionally operate handheld scanners, fax machine, phone, printer.
- At ease in the use of computers, including email. Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Word. Ability to learn and master multiple business software programs and platforms. Basic to intermediate math skills are a must.
- Assist in other departments of the stores or office as necessary.
- Perform other functions as necessary or assigned.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- 5 years retail experience preferred.
- Combination of post-secondary education and other related experience may be substituted for retail experience requirement.

Working Environment
Work is performed in a store setting with ability to speak and receive phone communications often. Work requires computer usage with strength, dexterity, coordination and visual acuity to use keyboard and video display terminal and other office equipment. Continuously standing, walking, reaching at/below shoulders, frequently lift/carry up to 100 pounds below waist, up to 100 pounds at waist/chest and occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds above shoulders.
