Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Physician III to join our team at the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC). As a key member of our medical staff, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to patients with psychiatric disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct medical and infection control activities, monitoring trends and making recommendations for improvement.
  • Provide supervision to physicians and nurse practitioners in the medical clinic.
  • Act as a resource for infection control and consultant to general medical physicians.
  • Provide treatment to state hospital employees injured in the course and scope of employment.
  • Lead and supervise Physicians and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) in the general medical clinic.
  • Perform comprehensive physical assessments and medical history to arrive at the most appropriate multi-axial diagnostic impressions and formulations.
  • Order appropriate laboratory and diagnostic studies as necessary.
  • Monitor patients' response to treatment on a continuous basis.
  • Document all patient encounters related to assessment, rationale for treatment interventions, and other related issues.
Requirements
  • Must be licensed as a medical doctor by the State of Texas.
  • Graduation from an accredited college of medicine with a degree as a medical doctor.
  • Completion of a residency program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
  • Experience in medical, clinical, or public health work.
Working Conditions

This position may require flexibility in work hours, overtime, and extended hours. Compliance with HHSC immunization policy and state hospital operating procedures related to immunizations is required.

In the event you choose to not be immunized for the influenza virus, you may be required to wear a mask and take other protective measures.
