Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Department Manager to lead our retail team at The Paper Store. As a key member of our sales floor, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer experiences, driving sales growth, and maintaining high levels of operational efficiency.

About The Paper Store: We are a specialty retailer dedicated to providing customers with a unique shopping experience through our extensive selection of gift items, greeting cards, and personalized services.

Responsibilities:
  • Customer Service: Greet and welcome every customer warmly, understand their needs, and provide in-depth product knowledge to meet their expectations.
  • Sales Growth: Build strong relationships with customers, suggest additional items to increase sales, and maintain awareness of all current promotions.
  • Team Leadership: Inspire and motivate the team daily by delivering positive feedback, utilizing recognition programs, and fostering open communication.
  • Store Operations: Maintain visual presentation standards, manage payroll within budget, train staff in all areas of the store, and hold the team accountable for upholding company policies and procedures.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Perform ear piercings safely and sanitize the area in accordance with state, federal, and CDC guidelines (select locations), and complete all tasks/directions as directed by the Store Team Leader or District Manager.

Requirements:

  • Previous Retail Experience: Preferred, but not required.
  • Strong Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with customers, team members, and management.
  • Adaptability: Willingness to adapt to changing circumstances, priorities, and deadlines.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in using Microsoft Office and POS systems.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move medium to large items up to 50 lbs., and work in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Availability: Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Earning Potential: $55,000 - $70,000 per year, depending on experience and location.
