Adjunct Instructor in Biological Sciences

Position Overview:

Marist College's School of Science is seeking applications for an Adjunct Instructor in the Biology Department for the upcoming academic year. The fall semester will require qualified candidates to instruct General Biology I, which encompasses topics such as the scientific method, cellular and chemical foundations of life, energy transformations, DNA structure and replication, protein synthesis, and cell division. In the spring semester, the focus will shift to General Biology II, covering the scientific method, genetics, evolution, and ecological interactions.

Instructors will be responsible for teaching in-person, which includes one lecture section (two 75-minute sessions per week) and one associated lab section (one 165-minute session per week). Additionally, we are looking for qualified individuals to teach lecture-only biology courses aimed at non-science majors, such as Topics in Biology, Human Biology, and Life on Earth.

Teaching Responsibilities:

  • General Biology I lecture & lab: TF 12:30-1:45pm lecture & W 2:00-4:45 pm lab
  • Human Anatomy & Physiology I lab: W 8:00-10:45 am
  • Two sections of non-majors Topics in Biology: MR 8:00-9:15 am and TR 5:00-6:15 pm

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must possess an M.A. or M.S. in Biology or a closely related discipline, demonstrate a strong commitment to undergraduate education, and show dedication to excellence and innovation in teaching while collaborating effectively with colleagues.

Key Responsibilities:

Successfully deliver in-person instruction for General Biology I and/or II, Topics in Biology, or other non-majors biology courses, ensuring alignment with departmentally established student learning outcomes.
