About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team at the Diocese of Orlando. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for our staff, students, and visitors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily custodial tasks, including emptying and cleaning waste receptacles, washing windows, dusting furniture, and cleaning vents, fans, and walls.
  • Sanitize various facility areas, including restrooms, kitchen and food areas, and cafeterias.
  • Operate heavy custodial equipment, such as mopping, stripping, waxing, and floor buffing machines.
  • Remove trash and recyclables, and transport materials to disposal areas.
  • Use chemicals and cleaners safely and productively, following established guidelines and regulations.
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as spills, broken windows, and broken locks.
  • Requisition supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually or using hand trucks.
  • Set up, arrange, or remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, or scaffolding for events.
Requirements
  • Catholic faith and appreciation for the Church's teachings.
  • High School diploma or equivalent, supplemented by previous experience in custodial work or a related field.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong command of the English language.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Physical ability to perform heavy lifting, bending, and climbing.
Working Conditions

This position requires the ability to work in a variety of environments, including offices, classrooms, and outdoor areas. The working hours are not limited to an 8-hour day, and the individual must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Physical and Sensory Requirements

This role requires the ability to exert heavy physical effort, with emphasis on climbing, balancing, and lifting moderately heavy objects. The individual must also be able to communicate effectively and work in a fast-paced environment.
