About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Teacher to join our team at Northeastern University's MCNU Children's School. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and supervising an exemplary curriculum for the Kindergarten/1st Grade program, using a reflective, inquiry approach to analyze and improve instruction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement curriculum for the Kindergarten/1st Grade program, linked to the California State Standards.
  • Work closely with colleagues to study and assess children's learning, continuously improving instruction at the school and contributing to the knowledge base of teaching.
  • Use academic and social emotional curriculum to support, supervise, and ensure the safety and well-being of children in the program.
  • Communicate effectively with parents/guardians and other members of the Children's School staff, including home-school visits, parent/teacher conferences, and weekly staff meetings.
  • Support admissions recruitment and retention by participating in tours.
Requirements
  • Five or more years of recent successful classroom teaching experience preferred.
  • Master's degree in Education preferred.
  • Knowledge of a Constructivist, Experiential model of education.
  • Committed to an inclusive, culturally sustaining education model.
  • Demonstrates oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to exhibit strong service orientation for all levels of College constituencies and members of the public.
  • Ability to promote and sustain effective working relationships within a diverse multicultural environment.
