We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Facilities Specialist-Mechanic to join our team at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. This is a critical role that requires a strong background in facilities maintenance, mechanical systems, and leadership.
Key Responsibilities- Perform routine preventative maintenance duties and adhere to set timetables for completion.
- Update preventive maintenance procedures for all assignments and ensure compliance with codes, rules, and regulations.
- Assist with minor repairs, modifications, testing, and installation of building systems and equipment.
- Investigate tenant complaints and make necessary repairs to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
- Install, repair, modify, and maintain mechanical distribution equipment, basic plumbing, and building/HVAC controls.
- Perform daily walkthroughs, record data, and address problems promptly.
- Determine material and equipment required to complete work based on drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Exercise functional supervision over trades people for assigned projects and tasks.
- Responsible for carpentry, painting, landscaping, snow removal, and exterior maintenance for the facility.
- Ability to be on-call during off-shift hours and holidays.
- Must possess required license for area of specialty.
- Minimum of 8 years experience in facilities maintenance.
- Lead/supervisory experience and experience working with contractors.
- Thorough knowledge of tools required to perform all repairs on major job components.
- Demonstrated ability to read and work off mechanical, electrical, and architectural plans.
- Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
- Ability to travel to off-site locations.
The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment with possible exposure to chemicals, gases, electrical shock, and confined spaces. Ability to perform physically arduous tasks, normal dexterity, visual acuity, ability to lift up to 50 lbs., ability to climb and work from ladders and scaffolding, and work in confined areas.
