Resident Mechanic

Under the general supervision of the Department Manager and the Supervisor/Lead, the Resident Mechanic will provide support to properties managed by UCLA Housing & Hospitality Services. The incumbent will diagnose, repair, and maintain plumbing, electrical, and mechanical components of residential appliances, including dishwashers, refrigeration units, ice machines, stove/ovens, garbage disposals, and microwaves.
Key Responsibilities:- Diagnose and repair plumbing, electrical, and mechanical issues with residential appliances
- Install, adjust, maintain, and repair refrigeration systems equipment, instruments, and controls
- Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance tasks on a regular and continuous basis
- Write concise, accurate reports and complete log/records of work or service performed
- Interact with various department contacts and UCLA personnel while performing duties
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and materials
The Resident Mechanic will work in a variety of settings, including residential buildings, maintenance shops, and outdoor locations. The incumbent will be required to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in areas with extreme temperatures.
