Powell Industries is a leading manufacturer of high-quality electrical switchgear and equipment. We are seeking an experienced Electrical Assembly Technician to join our team in the assembly of medium to large-sized metal boxes/enclosures or electrical switchgear.

Job Summary
The Electrical Assembly Technician will be responsible for assembling components according to engineering drawings and customer specifications using master copy, spec sheet, front elevation, and WO files. This role requires attention to detail, manual dexterity, and the ability to work as part of a team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2-4 years of experience in assembling medium to large-sized metal boxes/enclosures or electrical switchgear. A basic command of the English language, both written and verbal, is required.

Responsibilities
• Build and assemble mechanical components for Switchgear and/or Breaker units according to engineering drawings and customer specifications.
• Perform maintenance and proper use of tools.
• Perform in-process inspections; ensure quality by following standard work instructions and identifying any potential risks to product quality.
• Perform all ship prep functions including splitting gear.
• Assist in Root Cause Analysis on engineering changes and correct discrepancies.
• Assist a small team of employees to complete a specific task assigned by lead assembler and/or supervisor.
• Perform mechanical adjustments for switchgear.
• Promote a safety culture as well as attend all safety meetings.
• Ensure that work areas remain clean and well organized.

Requirements
• Minimum education level of a High School Diploma or General Education Equivalent Diploma is preferred.
• 2-4 years of experience in assembling medium to large-sized metal boxes/enclosures or electrical switchgear.
• Ability to read a tape measure (including conversions from fraction to decimal and conversely from decimal to fraction and metric to imperial).
• Must have a basic command of the English language, both written and verbal.
• Basic knowledge of operating desktop computer.
• Safely use variety of hand/power tools.
• Lift up to 50lbs using proper lifting techniques.
