Job Summary:
As a key member of the surgical team, the Perioperative Surgical Specialist collaborates closely with the Clinical Nurse Manager and the OR Charge Nurse to deliver exceptional patient care in the Operating Room. This role primarily involves supporting the surgical team in both scrub and assist circulator capacities, ensuring a seamless perioperative experience for patients.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Function as a vital part of the perioperative nursing team, executing both direct and indirect nursing tasks.
2. Assist the anesthesia team during surgical procedures.
3. Serve as a technical expert in at least one surgical specialty and mentor new surgical staff.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of an accredited surgical technology program is mandatory.
Experience:
- A minimum of two years of experience as a surgical technologist is preferred.
Licensure and Certification:
- Certification from an accredited Surgical Technology Program is required.
- BLS certification for healthcare providers is essential.
Skills:
- Strong communication abilities.
- Adaptability to changing environments.
- Excellent interpersonal relationship skills.
- Commitment to outstanding customer service.
- Proficiency in reading, writing, and communicating in English.
- Computer literacy is required.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
