We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Certified Surgical Tech PRN to join our team at Parkland Medical Center. As a key member of our operating room team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient execution of surgical procedures.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with Registered Nurses to prepare patients for surgical procedures, including all specialties such as Cardiothoracic, Neurology, OB-GYN, ENT, Oral, Plastics, Orthopedics, General-Vascular, Ophthalmology, and GU.
- Scrub for surgical procedures and perform various duties related to the preparation and maintenance of the operating room environment.
- Maintain inventory of necessary equipment and supplies, order supplies, and restock work areas as assigned to ensure the availability of needed supplies.
- Determine equipment and supplies for procedures based on patient and physician needs.
- Review permits to confirm procedures and special needs.
- Assist in moving and positioning patients.
- Confirm procedures with surgeons.
- Drape patients within surgeon's guidelines.
- Provide retraction of tissue and organs for optimal visualization, taking into account tissue type and appropriate retraction instruments and/or techniques.
- Maintain the integrity of the sterile field.
- Assist with resuscitation of patients during cardiac arrest or other life-threatening events in the operating room.
- Perform any other duties deemed necessary for the surgical procedure as directed by the surgeon.
- Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
- American Heart Association BCLS certification.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification.
- Minimum of three years of OR scrub experience, with CST certification preferred.
