Job Summary: As a key member of the anesthesiology team at Upstate University Hospital, the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist will be responsible for developing and implementing anesthetic plans under the direction of anesthesiologists. This role requires continuous vigilant observation of patients, correcting abnormal patient responses, and seeking consultation when necessary. The successful candidate will also be responsible for maintaining accurate and timely anesthetic records, ensuring patient stability, and safely transferring patients to the Post Anesthesia Care Unit or ICU. Additionally, the CRNA will manage emergency situations, including initiating and participating in cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and take appropriate precautions to minimize risks of infection. The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Nursing, be licensed as a RN in New York State, and have a minimum of one year of RN experience in an acute care setting. The successful completion of an accredited nurse anesthesia educational program and national certification examination is also required. Current CPR certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross is mandatory, as is current ACLS and PALS certification through the American Heart Association. The CRNA will work in multiple locations, including Adult and Pediatric Operating Rooms at University Hospital, Cancer Center, and several one-day surgery centers affiliated with the hospital.
