Breast Sonographer Specialist

Parkland Health and Hospital System (PHHS) is seeking a highly skilled Breast Sonographer to join our team. As a key member of our diagnostic imaging department, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.
Key Responsibilities- Operate ultrasound equipment to produce diagnostic scans, ensuring optimal patient care and safety.
- Evaluate and verify images meet departmental quality standards and established imaging protocols.
- Identify and distinguish between normal and abnormal anatomy relevant to imaging subspecialty and document in images and electronic health record per protocol.
- Maintain required quality standards through use of Peer View and other department metrics reported on a regular basis.
- Participate in image review and feedback sessions with physicians, senior sonographers, and supervisor.
- Ensure the accuracy of all data entered into the patient record, including arrival, begin, and end exam information.
- May access and handle selected medications and contrast media within scope of practice and with supervision and guidance of a Sr. sonographer and/or provider.
- Maintain and perform basic troubleshooting of ultrasound equipment and inform supervisor and submit tickets as needed to ensure equipment is operable and safe.
- Graduate from an accredited sonography and/or imaging program.
- Equivalent education and/or experience, including education completed in sonography in another country with current abdomen credential from the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - Sonography (ARRT(S)) and hospital sonography experience.
- Certification/Registration/Licensure, including sonographers working in Radiology ultrasound must be registered in the sub-specialty of abdomen [by ARDMS (RDMS (AB)) or ARRT (S)] or vascular sonography [by ARDMS RVT or CCI-RVS] as a condition of hire.
- Skills or Special Abilities, including the ability to operate various types of ultrasound and ancillary equipment used in performing ultrasound procedures, demonstrate knowledge of normal and abnormal anatomy, and have effective verbal and written communication skills.
