Position Summary
The Head of Engineering Operations will oversee a maintenance team comprising four skilled technicians, ensuring that all machinery operates safely and efficiently. This role requires a blend of leadership and hands-on involvement in preventive maintenance and repairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Prioritize safety by fostering a secure working environment and safeguarding all company assets.
- Lead the plant's safety initiatives, ensuring compliance with all safety regulations and managing insurance obligations for equipment and facilities.
- Supervise and mentor the maintenance team, including recruitment, training, and performance management in collaboration with Human Resources.
- Oversee the repair and upkeep of industrial washing machines, dryers, ironing machines, folding equipment, overhead rail systems, boilers, compressors, conveyors, and other essential machinery.
- Establish and maintain comprehensive Preventive Maintenance (PM) records, identifying defects and tagging faulty equipment as necessary.
- Collaborate with the Director of Operations to create a PM schedule that aligns with operational requirements, based on the manufacturer's recommended maintenance timelines.
- Troubleshoot, install, and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues with minimal supervision.
- Manage procurement of parts, equipment, and services to support operational needs while adhering to budget constraints.
- Work closely with chemical suppliers to ensure proper chemical usage, impacting product quality and cost efficiency.
- Maintain ongoing communication with supervisors, managers, and plant personnel to stay informed about operational activities.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial maintenance management.
- Experience in the commercial laundry sector is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to implement and manage a preventive maintenance program.
- Previous experience in a supervisory or management role, with a proven track record of leading and developing maintenance teams.
- Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) is required.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic troubleshooting skills, with specific knowledge of machinery, electrical systems, PLCs, plumbing, welding, and boiler operations.
- Able to interpret blueprints and electrical schematics.
- Bilingual in Spanish is an advantage.
