Job Summary:

We are seeking an Admissions Counselor to join our team at Wake Forest University. The successful candidate will be responsible for recruiting, evaluating, and enrolling incoming classes of undergraduate students. This is a two-year position that may be eligible for continuation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead admissions information sessions for prospective students and other guests as the sole, partnered, or team presenter - both in-person or virtually.
  • Assist with updating the presentation and pre-session slideshow loop on a yearly basis (or more, as needed).
  • Conduct evaluative admissions interviews with recent applicants to the university.
  • Through the interview process, determine and assign ratings to each candidate.
  • During the application reading season, review applications (first year and transfer applications) for potential admission to the university.
  • Participate in the initial file review and assign a series of ratings, as well as provide substantive comments to be shared among application file reviewers.
  • Serve as a member of an admissions mini committee.
  • Assist with recruitment in specific geographic regions.
  • Support special campus programming (including but not limited to open houses, counselor fly-ins, and yield programing).
  • Provide information about Wake Forest University and be informed about the university, opportunities available, as well as higher education trends.
  • Available to lead tours in summer months (during summer school sessions) as dictated by demand/as needed basis.
  • Respond in a timely manner to inquiries from a variety of sources including prospective students, parents, counselors, and community-based organizations.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree with a strong academic record and a range of collegiate co-curricular experience.
  • Knowledge of or ability to gain knowledge of Wake Forest academics, extracurriculars, and opportunities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and time management skills.
  • Adept at handling sensitive information in a confidential manner.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Capable of working as a member of a team or independently, as needed.
  • Able to work extended hours and some Saturdays (typically in the fall and January through April).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, the internet, and other relevant software.
  • Ability to present and always display a professional demeanor.
  • Meet the requirements of the University's automobile insurance.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Wake Forest University graduate within the last two academic years.

  • Responsible for own work.
Physical Requirements:
  • Sedentary work primarily involves sitting/standing; communicating with others to exchange information; repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands, and/or fingers; and assessing the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned.
