We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Cashier to join our team at the City of El Paso, TX. As a Senior Cashier, you will be responsible for collecting and accounting for payments from customers, performing supervisory or leadwork if assigned, and providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities- Collect payments for services, fees, utility bills, taxes, fines, licenses, permits, or admissions from customers.
- Post sales, toll collections, or customer payments received in person, by mail, drop boxes, or other means to correct accounts, issue receipts, and maintain accurate records.
- Research and resolve posting errors or problem payments, such as returned checks, checks received without a signature or an identifying account number.
- Perform data entry in the financial management system to record payments.
- Prepare and verify the accuracy of daily deposits.
- Reconcile daily sales, receipts, or collections.
- Respond to inquiries and complaints from the general public.
- Supervise or lead other cashiers and temporary employees if assigned.
- Assign, schedule, guide, and monitor work, including verifying the accuracy of the work of others.
- Verify, assign, and distribute starting cash drawers to other cashiers.
- Provide training and development.
- Counsel, motivate, and maintain harmony.
- Identify and resolve staff differences, conflicts, and deficiencies.
- A High School diploma, GED, or higher.
- Two (2) years of cashiering or cash handling experience.
- Must pass a rigid background investigation.
- No licenses or certificates required.
This is a full-time position that requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent customer interactions. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be able to work independently, and be able to multitask in a dynamic environment.
