Histology Specialist

Job Summary:

The Histology Technician 3 is responsible for orienting and embedding pathology specimens to ensure optimal sectioning. This role requires strong technical skills and attention to detail to prepare high-quality specimens for cell blocks and staining of slides.

Key Responsibilities:

• Orient and embed pathology specimens for optimal sectioning
• Perform routine and special staining procedures, including cover-slipping and labeling slides
• Review stain quality microscopically and communicate any discrepancies to the team
• Prioritize testing procedures and complete them in a timely and accurate manner
• Maintain accurate records of all tests performed in accordance with established policies and regulations
• Communicate with the team to maintain knowledge and demonstrate regulatory standards to ensure compliance

Requirements:

• Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program within the last five years
• 60 semester hours of academic credit from an accredited university with a combination of 12 semester hours in biology and chemistry
• Ability to embed quality cassettes per hour and resolve problems or communicate them to the staff/management
• Ability to maintain optimal technical quality in the preparation of specimens for cell blocks and staining of slides
• Ability to successfully complete specific job-related continuing education units annually
