Histology Specialist

Job Summary:
The Histology Technician 3 is responsible for orienting and embedding pathology specimens to ensure optimal sectioning. This role requires strong technical skills and attention to detail to prepare high-quality specimens for cell blocks and staining of slides.
Key Responsibilities:
- Orient and embed pathology specimens for optimal sectioning
- Perform routine and special staining procedures, including cover-slipping and labeling slides
- Review stain quality microscopically and communicate any discrepancies to the team
- Prioritize testing procedures and complete them in a timely and accurate manner
- Maintain accurate records of all tests performed in accordance with established policies and regulations
- Communicate with the team to maintain knowledge and demonstrate regulatory standards to ensure compliance
Requirements:
- Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program within the last five years
- 60 semester hours of academic credit from an accredited university with a combination of 12 semester hours in biology and chemistry
- Ability to embed quality cassettes per hour and resolve problems or communicate them to the staff/management
- Ability to maintain optimal technical quality in the preparation of specimens for cell blocks and staining of slides
- Ability to successfully complete specific job-related continuing education units annually
