Department: Center for Student Success
Position: Graduate Assistant for Orientation and First-Year Seminar
Schedule: 20 hours per week
Tuition Remission: 8 graduate credit hours of tuition remission during each semester of the award including the summer session and 4 credits over the J-term.
Stipend: $8,000
About the Position:
Carthage College's Center for Student Success (CSS) is seeking a highly motivated and organized Graduate Assistant to support the Orientation and First-Year Seminar program. The successful candidate will be enrolled in a two-year graduate program at Carthage College and possess excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with the planning and implementation of International and Transfer Student Orientations
- Support the development and facilitation of the College Success Seminar course
- Recruit and train College Success Seminar Peer Coach Leaders and Peer Coaches
- Co-supervise College Success Seminar Peer Coach Leaders and Peer Coaches
- Recruit and train students to participate in orientation programming
- Complete Program Planning tasks, such as room and technology reservations, preparing presentations and facilitating trainings, developing and coordinating marketing and communication, identifying needed supplies and resources, implementing assessment processes, keeping track of related budget items, creating and updating course and programming materials
- Attend regular CSS staff meetings and one on one meetings with supervisor
- Attend campus meetings as appropriate
- Assist with the implementation of various CSS events/programs
- Provide excellent customer service, demonstrating integrity and initiative
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree is required
- Admission into Carthage College's graduate program is required
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, and strong attention to detail
