Key Responsibilities
  • Project Plan Takeoffs: Carefully examine project plans and specifications to perform quantity surveys or takeoffs.
  • Client Communication: Study documentation, meet with clients, and inspect the project site to fully understand the work required.
  • Subcontractor Evaluation: Evaluate subcontractor/supplier quotes to ensure the best value for our clients.
  • Bid Bond Coordination: Coordinate with our front office on bid bonds to ensure timely completion.
  • Pre-Construction Meetings: Attend pre-construction meetings as required to ensure a smooth project start.
  • Project Bid Preparation: Prepare project bids, create jobs, order materials, request material submittals, and schedule work with the assistance of our Operations Manager.
  • Formal Bid Openings: Attend formal bid openings as required to ensure our company's interests are represented.
  • Resource Allocation: Decide on the most appropriate human and material resources for each project.
  • Quote Negotiation: Negotiate with service providers to secure better prices for our clients.
  • Work Plan Development: Outline the work plan to gauge how much time will be needed to complete each project.
  • Risk Assessment: Perform risk assessments to account for potential deviations from the project plan.
  • Project Cost Analysis: Account for the use of our resources, plus a reasonable profit margin to calculate price.
  • Proposal Development: Draft proposals that detail project materials, costs, and time frames.
  • Client Meetings: Meet with clients to discuss their thoughts and concerns about our offers.
  • Project Cost Analysis: Perform project cost analysis at conclusion of project.
  • Quality Control: Occasional field and job site visits – quality control visits.
Requirements
  • Experience: Experience as a striping estimator plus additional duties such as estimating for permanent signs, guardrails, dead-end barricades, and traffic control.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of relevant technical and non-technical documents.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with takeoffs, reading blueprints/plans and navigating bid notification sites.
  • Software Proficiency: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Education: Required: High School diploma or GED.
Working Conditions
  • Work Environment: Able to work in an environment with noise, including those associated with construction equipment, construction job sites, computer equipment, telephones, and other employees talking.
  • Physical Demands: Ability to sit and/or stand for extended periods, perform work on a computer for extended periods, and attend work and meetings with excellent attendance and punctuality.
