Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Nurse Job Description

At Children's Hospital & Medical Center, we are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Nurse to join our team. As a PICU Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to critically ill children and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide individualized, family-centered care to patients in the PICU, utilizing the nursing process and clinical skills to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized patient plans of care, ensuring that patients receive comprehensive and coordinated care.
  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients, identifying their unique needs and developing plans to address those needs.
  • Administer medications and treatments as ordered by physicians, ensuring that patients receive timely and effective care.
  • Monitor patients' conditions, reporting any changes or concerns to the healthcare team.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families, empowering them to take an active role in their care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices that improve patient outcomes.
Requirements:
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Current and valid Nebraska RN license or RN Compact license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
  • PALS certification within 180 days of hire.
  • Previous experience in pediatric critical care or a related field is preferred.
