Physical Therapy Technician Job Description

Essential Position Duties:
  • Prepare treatment rooms for patients by following prescribed procedures and protocols.
  • Prepare patients for physical therapy treatment by welcoming, comforting, and providing physical therapy apparel.
  • Perform laundry and maintain an ample supply of clean linens.
  • Record daily notes under the direct supervision of a physical therapist.
  • Provide information to patients by answering questions and requests.
  • Help treat patients by applying ice or heat packs, assisting with exercises, and monitoring motion.
  • Educate patients on proper use of equipment and exercise routines.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and protect operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Provide equipment and supplies by sterilizing and delivering equipment and supplies to treatment areas.
  • Ensure operation of physical therapy equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Maintain physical therapy supplies inventory by checking stock and anticipating needed supplies.
  • Enhance the physical therapy department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for new requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Collect garbage at the end of each working day.
  • Report any issues needing resolution to physical therapists.
Minimum Position Requirements:
  • Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidential documents.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to communicate complex information in a well-thought-out and easily understood manner.
  • Ability to demonstrate active listening and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong team player.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's of Science in Kinesiology or related field, preferred but not required.
  • Prior experience in customer service.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Requires prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, mouse, photocopier, telephone, calculator, and other office equipment. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and present reports.
