Key Responsibilities
  • Organize and supervise the daily activities of the health clinic at the assigned school.
  • Evaluate the health status of students by performing health screenings, tests, and physical examinations.
  • Provide direct nursing care to students and staff, including administering medication, immunizations, and first aid.
  • Monitor students for illness and provide early detection of communicable diseases.
  • Communicate with parents/guardians and school personnel regarding student health needs.
  • Develop and implement health education programs for students and staff.
  • Collaborate with school administrators and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive health services.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing with some work experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Licensure as a RN by the Virginia Board of Nursing.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, and techniques within a public school environment.
  • Ability to organize a clinic and supervise staff.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Working Conditions

The School Nurse will work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The ability to multitask and prioritize tasks is essential.
