Job Summary

The Public Health Nutritionist I position at the Vermont Department of Health is a dynamic opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of Vermonters. As a key member of our team, you will provide nutritional counseling and breastfeeding support to individuals enrolled in the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) supplemental nutrition program, utilizing culturally competent motivational interviewing techniques.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement public health interventions to promote healthy eating habits and lifestyles
  • Provide nutrition education and counseling to clients, including prenatal and postpartum women and children under the age of five
  • Collaborate with community partners to design and implement outreach and education efforts
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge
Requirements
  • Bachelor's or higher degree in nutrition, nutritional sciences, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or public health nutrition
  • OR Applicant in the final semester of a bachelor's or higher degree program in nutrition, nutritional sciences, community nutrition, clinical nutrition, dietetics, or public health nutrition
  • Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (R.D./R.D.N) certification preferred
