You will act as the primary contact in the adoption area, addressing routine inquiries and concerns. Your contributions will foster a culture of continuous improvement and inquiry.

Compensation: $18/hour

Benefits:

Work Schedule: Full-time; 40 hours per week

  • Shifts are 8 hours long
  • Weekend shifts: 9:45 AM - 6:15 PM
  • Weekday shifts: 11:45 AM - 8:15 PM
  • Preferred schedule: Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday (with Monday and Wednesday off)

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership: Take ownership of outcomes, collaborate effectively, and hold yourself and your team accountable. Manage the opening and closing of the adoption center and coordinate daily tasks and schedules. Exemplify a coaching leadership style.

Customer Engagement: Welcome and address inquiries from both internal and external clients. Provide assistance and guidance regarding the adoption process. Handle merchandise sales and adoption transactions.

Effective Communication: Actively listen, pay attention, and responsibly manage information.

Team Support: Aid in coaching and training team members, organizing schedules, managing time records, and leading staff meetings. Ensure consistent service quality and maintain inventory levels while supporting animal care and daily operations.

Workplace Culture: Promote an inclusive and open work environment by embodying the organization's values and mission. Advocate for a culture of safety and encourage meaningful volunteer participation.

Additional Duties: As assigned.

Qualifications:

Availability: Consistent attendance, punctuality, and flexibility to work during operational hours, including evenings and weekends.

Experience: Leadership experience or a strong desire to lead is essential. Customer service experience is preferred.

Technical Skills: Proficient in computer use, particularly with Microsoft Office applications.

Adaptability: Ability to maintain professionalism and attention to detail in various situations, with a willingness to assist at different locations.

Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication abilities, with the capacity to lead a team and collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders.

Physical and Emotional Resilience: Must be capable of managing the physical and emotional demands of working in an animal shelter, including handling euthanasia when necessary. Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. is required.
