Job Summary:

The Senior Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining manufacturing automation systems to optimize plant performance and efficiency. This role requires expertise in control systems, automation technologies, and process engineering to ensure seamless integration and operation of automated systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and implement control systems, including PLC programming, HMI configuration, and SCADA integration.
  • Develop and maintain process control systems, including batch control, recipe management, and quality control.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and implement automation improvements, including Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma initiatives.
  • Provide technical expertise and support for automation-related projects, including capital project management and equipment installation.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for automation systems, including user manuals, technical specifications, and maintenance procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and company policies related to automation and control systems.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Industrial Controls, Electronics, Engineering, Technology, or related disciplines.
  • 7+ years of experience in industrial automation, including control systems, PLC programming, and SCADA integration.
  • Proficiency in Allen Bradley control platforms, including SLC500, ControlLogix, MicroLogix, and PanelView Plus.
  • Experience with motor control, including servo and VFD devices.
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and controls technologies and design application.
  • Experience with scoping, designing, budgeting, and project managing capital projects within a manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certified Professional Engineer.
  • 8+ years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with the National Electric Code (NEC) and international standards.
  • Proficiency designing and programming control systems with emphasis on PLCs, SCADA, or HMI systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot control systems from the field element up through operator interfaces and databases.
