Plant Operations Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Plant Operations Specialist to join our team at Vistra Corporate Services Company. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of combined cycle power plant operations and a commitment to ensuring the safe and efficient production of electricity.
Key Responsibilities:- Operate and maintain the facility in the control room or field, optimizing plant performance through established procedures.
- Perform startup and shutdown operations on combined cycle and simple cycle units.
- Monitor water chemistry parameters in support of make-up water production, cooling water circulation and ASME guidelines for maintaining boiler and feed water within specification.
- Demonstrate procedural compliance in all plant operation activities by operating plant equipment through established valve line-ups and system/component operating procedures.
- Perform daily preventive and corrective maintenance as required.
- Proficient in operating material handling equipment.
- Understand the relationship of equipment to plant systems.
- Ensure strict adherence to safety, health and environmental procedures as they relate to plant operations and maintenance.
- Actively participate in the behavior-based safety program and ensure every team member complies with all safety procedures and applicable task-oriented job safety analyses.
- 4 years' experience in a combined cycle power plant or equivalent industrial setting.
- Satisfactory completion of Tier 3 within primary skill for position job performance measure.
- Minimum of High School diploma or equivalent.
- If applicable, candidate will hold the required level of state license as recognized by the governing body of that state.
- Basic user PC skills for information processing and management.
- Demonstrate effective oral and verbal communications skills.
- Independent knowledge of troubleshooting.
- Must pass POSS/MASS preemployment exam.
- Ability to work on a 12 rotating shift schedule. Shift work, overtime and standby status are required.
- Ability to hear and understand audible alarms, detect changes in noise levels of equipment, accurately read and interpret instruments and gauges and communicate clearly on portable radios.
- Ability to respond to plant emergencies.
- Ability to perform demanding work at heights under adverse conditions and when participating in emergency activities.
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders and enter confined spaces as required to complete assigned tasks.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. of weight.
- Ability to pass respirator physical and fit tests.
- Ability to perform first aid and CPR.
- Satisfactory completion of Tier 3 training and qualification requirements.
- Demonstrate continual self-improvement in job skills and knowledge.
