Position Summary
The primary responsibility of this role involves unloading vehicles from rail transport.
Key Responsibilities
- Remove rail chalks from vehicle tires.
- Drive vehicles off rail transport units.
- Transport vehicles to designated areas.
- Handle and position bridge plates.
- Navigate tight spaces between rail cars and vehicles, including climbing in and out of rail cars.
Required Skills and Competencies
- Proficient in vehicle operation.
- Strong focus on safety protocols.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and climbing tasks.
- Adherence to strict damage prevention measures.
Supervisory Role
This position does not involve direct supervision of others.
Work Environment
Work is primarily conducted outdoors, subject to varying weather conditions such as rain, sun, snow, and wind.
Physical Requirements
This role demands significant physical activity, including strenuous tasks typical of production and technical environments. Manual dexterity is necessary for handling items and working with various materials.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position, typically requiring 8-hour shifts across five days a week, with potential for overtime.
Travel Requirements
No travel is expected for this position.
Education and Experience
No formal education or prior training is required.
Preferred Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent, along with one to three months of relevant experience or training, is preferred.
Technical Skills
Basic computer skills are necessary for this role.
Certification Requirements
Candidates must be able to obtain eRailSafe certification.
