Nurse Practitioner

Promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process, collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members, providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families, and supervising assigned team members.
Key Responsibilities- Uses the nursing process as a framework to deliver care, assessing patient condition, coordinating, prioritizing, and integrating patient information from all aspects of clinical care.
- Delegates basic patient care needs to assistive personnel, sets goals to organize assignment, collaborates with patients and their families on desired goals, and acts on physician's orders in a timely manner.
- Develops independent nursing interventions appropriate to the patient's response to care, documents interventions and their resultant responses, and audits aggregate performance to improve systems that support patient care.
- Provides emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, friends, and families, promoting a compassionate environment.
- Teaches patients, friends, and family to understand condition, medications, safety, and self-care skills, promoting patient independence.
- Ensures quality of care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring health outcomes against patient care goals and standards, and making or recommending necessary adjustments.
- Maintains a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations for safety and infection control, keeping patient rooms in a neat and orderly fashion, and adhering to medication administration and storage procedures.
- Respects patients and the organization by recognizing patient rights, keeping information confidential, and responding to requests using tact and diplomacy.
- Ensures the operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, processing requisitions for repair, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Demonstrates financial accountability by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, verifying receipt of supplies, and using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
- Contributes to organizational team effort by communicating information, responding to requests, building rapport, participating in team problem-solving methods, and participating in at least one performance improvement team or project.
- Maintains a cooperative relationship among healthcare teams by accomplishing related results as needed, following through on delegated tasks, responding to coworkers' requests for assistance, demonstrating behaviors as defined by the GSSH code of conduct, acting as a resource and/or leader when the need arises, and documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
- Promotes the development of Good Shepherd as a system by promoting the positive image of Good Shepherd, acting as a preceptor for new associates or students, communicating performance outcomes and results, and responding to change in a constructive and positive manner.

- Education: Associate's Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma required, Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
- Work Experience: Previous acute care experience preferred.
- Licenses/Certifications: Registered Nurse license required, Basic Life Support/CPR as a healthcare provider per the American Heart Association required, ACLS required, must obtain ACLS within eighteen months of employment and then maintain certification throughout employment.
