Medication Assistant

Job Summary:
The Medication Aide-Certified (MA-C) plays a vital role in providing routine daily medication to residents at Gallatin Center for Rehabilitation and Healing. Under the direction of a licensed nurse, this individual is responsible for administering medications as ordered by a physician, in accordance with state and federal regulations and facility policy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administers medications as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse.
- Observes that medication is ingested and does not leave medication at the bedside.
- Notifies licensed staff when a resident complains of pain.
- Takes and records vital signs of residents as assigned or required by certain medications.
- Records the administration of medications appropriately using the computer system.
- Answers resident call lights and anticipates resident needs.
- Observes for and reports any reactions and/or side effects of medications to a licensed nurse.
- Administers PRN medications in accordance with state and federal regulations and facility policy.
- Reports and records any changes observed in condition or behavior of residents and unusual incidents.
Requirements:
- MA-C Certification
- Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Basic computer knowledge
